On October 5, 2011, the WE SPEAK AWARDS brought together 150 attendees to recognize individuals and agencies in various sectors—non-profit, philanthropy, for-profit that support leadership development and HIV prevention for young women of color and have been instrumental in the growth of the Coalition. Hosted by relationship expert, Demetria L. Lucas and held at the Prince George Ballroom in New York City, the first annual awards program was a resounding success as it paid homage to a cross-section of leaders and pioneers for the fight against HIV/AIDS.

Monetary support of the WE SPEAK AWARDS  allows  the Coalition  to further its programming efforts. The core programs provide the necessary services to address HIV and the structural factors that impact the lives of young women of color ages 13-24 and fund its annual community outreach programs that educate NYC about the impact of HIV/AIDS in communities of color and raise awareness:

-WE SPEAK Peer Education and Leadership Development Program
-Annual Health Summit/Film Festival: The Power of Our Parts
-Safer Sex Education Parties
-Quarterly Meetings
